Using Blogs in the Classroom
I currently teach Math I to 9th graders. I think using a blog in my classroom would be a great idea! The blog that I create would serve as a place for my students to ask questions about the lesson in class and to get help with homework. It would also be a place for students and their parents to see upcoming events such as major tests, homework assignments, etc. and preview upcoming topics that will be covered. I will also use the blog to give kudos to students. Using a blog enhances the lesson by giving students a way to express themselves or ask questions that they may have been reluctant to while they were in class.

I like your thoughts on how you would use a blog in the room. Do you have enough computers available for your students to use in there or would you have them use it at when they get home? We don't have enough in our rooms at all. Our classes have 1 computer to use, so we need to get more creative with our thinking.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using your blog to serve as a place where family/school connections occur. I also think the it is a great forum to ask questions about assignments learned in class or homework that your students are having difficulty with.
ReplyDeleteI also teach math to 9th graders and would love to use blogs in my classroom. Do you think there would be any problems with some students not having access to a computer or the internet? I know that is an issue at my school. Most students don't have a computer or internet. How would you encourage students that don't have access to get the same help the other students are getting by using the blog?
